Terror/Excitement

Terror/Excitement is a video exploration of  seemingly conflicting emotions that can exist simultaneously and fluctuate from one state to the other. It explores the vulnerability and tension of the in-between emotional spaces that occur when something is unknown or new.

The video uses Butoh mask work, whereby the face becomes the mask. Gaby uses degrees of showing the emotions from small to extreme, transforming from masks of Terror and Excitement to explore how humans create ‘masks’ to show what is being experienced internally or to cover up what is hidden inside.

The work offers ideas of transformation between different internal states.

Terror/Excitement solo exhibition at Seventh Gallery 2016. Video and Live Performance.
