Silence gives form to sound In stillness form takes shape
Silence gives form to sound In stillness form takes shape explores the journey of moving from the unknown, through a process of confusion and uncertainty, until things take form once more. The gallery space acts as a metaphor for the psychological self and the installation is a reflection of the inside workings of her mind during the creative process.
During residency at The Australian Tapestry Workshop New Time-Lapse videoed an improvisation process of creating a wearable sculpture. This video was then heavily edited also using an improvised video editing technique until barely recognizable. The video is then combined with an installation in which New performs an improvised dances with and within the video projection exploring concepts of; navigating the unknown, creating, shadow, taking form and shape, uncertainty and trust.
